SERUMS

For years the skin care routine remained at cleanse tone moisturize finish! Easy right?

With time it has grown to so many other products; We have oils, essences, cleansing waters, blur creams, glow lotions, manual exfoliators, chemical exfoliators, balms, butters, and boosters. Not to mention eye creams, neck creams, face masks, face peels, dark spot correctors and the list goes on and on. This has left many wondering when and how to use them and whether they need them or not. One of these Ingredients is the serum.

The serum has become so popular that almost every skin care brand has one of those but do consumers know when and how to put the on?

First let’s start by demystifying the serum.

A face serum is the workhorse of your skincare routine.it is more than your usual face cream or lotion.

So, what exactly makes a serum different from other products in your line up? Dermatologists credit the high concentration of actives. “Serums are made to deliver hyper-concentrated levels of active ingredients, and therefore are better for getting more immediate results and addressing specific concerns. Serums are far more concentrated than creams, which is why they are also more expensive. Serums are lightweight products that penetrates the surface layers of the skin to address specific skin concerns on a deeper level. e.g. The Ardor Glo serum addresses fine lines and wrinkles ad evening out skin tone or overall brightening, or  The  Ardor vitamin C for scar fading , brightening, and protection from free radicals), peptides to stimulate collagen and minimize fine lines and antioxidant.

When to apply them

Serum are usually light weight formulations that are meant to be absorbed deep into the skin, the best time to apply them is immediately after cleansing before moisturiser to ensure they are well absorbed into the skin.so ideally your routine will look like Cleanse, Tone Serum, Moisturise.

There can be more steps than these in a routine but we are building from our basic skin care routine which we shared here (hyperlink).

Use your vitamin C Serum in the morning and the Glo serum in the evening. Make sure to always wear a sunscreen before going out in the sun. Some Ingredients should never be used with Vitamin C you should not use benzoyl peroxide together with Vitamin C as they just cancel each other you can use products containing vitamin c in the morning and Retinols in the evening.
